Establishing Linkages in Environmental Auditing
The RAA conducted a two day stakeholder engagement workshop for ‘Establishing Institutional Linkages in Environmental Auditing’ aimed at enhancing collaboration and cooperation between the RAA and relevant stakeholder in contributing towards protection and conservation of environment through Environmental Auditing. The participants were introduced to the concept of environmental auditing, auditing standard, audit topic selection procedures, frameworks and various methodologies used while conducting environmental audits. Presentations were also made on RAA’s expectations from stakeholders on how they can help through collaborations, co-operations, support and contribute in bringing out significant and credible audit reports.
The workshop was attended by participants representing various government agencies, civil society organizations and private sectors involved in environmental conservation and protection. The workshop served as a platform for participants to share information on the core functions of their respective agencies and for the RAA to understand the stakeholders’ expectations from RAA as an oversight body. The workshop also thrashed out doubts and queries as well as carved the way forward for strengthening environmental auditing.
The Stakeholder Engagement workshop was the first of its kind organized by the RAA and attended by 21 participants from 12 organisations. The two-day workshop was funded by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTFEC) at the Hotel Olathang, Paro from 8th to 9th February 2018.
