The Hon’ble Auditor General of Bhutan accompanied by three senior officials from the Royal Audit Authority, Head Office visited the on-going construction of Professional Development Centre (PDC) at Tsirang on 6th September 2015.
The main purpose of the visit was mainly to review the progress of the construction and to ascertain the adequacy of funds for site developments and other ancillary works.
The construction of centre consists of two packages and was awarded in October 2014 for duration of 24 months. The construction is being funded by GoI under PTA.
At the side line of the visit, the Hon’ble Auditor General also granted an audience to the officials and staff of the Office of the Assistant Auditor General, Tsirang. He cited the visit as “home coming” after he had served more than four years as the first Assistant Auditor General of the Office before assuming the post of Dzongda in September 2007. Highlighting the importance of adhering to code of good conduct and behavior at all times, he reiterated the importance of Auditor General’s Standing Instructions 2010 which is a profound document. He said that the profession like auditors is fraught with risk of allegations and damaging the image built over more than four decades of its existence, as an oversight body. He also reminded the officials to work hard with added heartiness and zeal for accomplishing the set targets.
This was his first visit to Tsirang after assuming the post of an Auditor General on 6th August 2015.
