Deadline for resolving audit issues to be reported in the Annual Audit Report 2019

In line with Article 25 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan and Section 111 to 116 of the Audit Act of Bhutan 2018, the Auditor General is required to submit an Annual Audit Report (AAR) to the Druk Gyalpo, the Prime Minister and the Parliament.

The AAR will contain Ministry/Dzongkhag/Agency-wise categorization of audit observations issued from 1st January 2019 to 31st December 2019 which are remaining unresolved as on 31st January 2020.

The Authority therefore, provides the opportunity to the audited agencies to resolve audit issues within the deadline specified hereunder:

·     Audit Reports issued from 1st Jan. to 31st Oct. 2019            – by 31st December 2019
·     Audit Reports to be issued from 1st Nov. to 31st Dec. 2019 – by 31st January 2020

The Ministries, Dzongkhags and Agencies should depute official(s) to resolve outstanding audit issues or contact the concerned dealing staff whose contact details are provided in Appendix A.

Audit observations remaining unresolved within the stipulated timeframe will be reported in the Annual Audit Report 2019 along with accountability against the individuals and heads of agencies. We hope that the audited agencies will take the matter seriously and support Authority to promote accountability, transparency, integrity and value for money in public operations.

This notification is issued in compliance to Section 118 (4) of the Audit Act of Bhutan.
